Isleta Resort

The Native American people of this region have lived in harmony and respect with their natural environment.

Stories of their emergence and of their living history are handed down from one generation to the next through prayer and song. The traditional knowledge of their ancestors is the basis for how they live today and is reflected in architecture, traditions, arts and ceremony.

We are most grateful for the blessings of our Earth Mother as she provides us with all that we need to sustain our livelihood now, and into the future. As native people living in modern times, we have a responsibility to maintain balance with our natural environment and world trends. As you explore this collection of traditional and contemporary artwork, you will see memories of the past as well as the voice and creativity of modern native people.

We invite you to enjoy this celebration of cultural art.

Sharon And Eliza Zuni

Blue Shell Pottery and Gifts is a Native American business in Isleta Pueblo. It is family owned and operated by artist Sharon Zuni and with her daughter Eliza Zuni. We are two Native American artists from Isleta Pueblo, New Mexico; Sharon Zuni (Ea-Besea, Corn Maidens Head Dress) and Eliza Zuni (Lhur-Ba-Whea, Rain Lake). We come from a long family tradition of fourth and fifth generation potters, craftswomen and entrepreneurs whose work is as unique as our names. Sharon is a fourth generation pottery artist and learned a lot of her talent from her mother and grandmother who used to hand mold pieces of pottery from bowls to small animals. Sharon is also the only known artist to produce a ceramic “Native American” designed butterfly. Eliza is the fifth generation of the family to work with pottery, also learning from her mother and grandmother.

The pieces of pottery they sell are not handmade, but are made using a mold or cast. They complete each step of the process by pouring, cleaning, firing and had painting each piece. From the design to presentation, each piece is unique in its own way.

“We believe that the Greater Spirit within our hearts gives us the inspiration to LIVE, LOVE and DESIGN our pottery and crafts. Through this voice within us, we are able to find creativity, individuality, uniqueness and beauty in all our work. We are able to concentrate on the delicacy of colors and designs to create works of art that bring happiness and enjoyment for others. We are truly blessed to find this way of life and find contentment and harmony in our hearts with every piece we create.”
